================
The OO Inventory was created in 1995 by the late Bill Johann, then editor of The OO Road, the newsletter of the American OO SIG of the NMRA. As he wrote in February of 1995 his initial goal was to "purchase new kits in OO for preservation for use in the future." However,
While I was able to purchase some cars, I was quite amazed by the quantity of the items that were donated. Erwin Schaaf sent in several boxes of "stuff" while several of us sent a few cars and even some loco parts.And so it began. He did his best to make the cars complete with trucks by the same brand of maker when possible (SC trucks on SC cars, etc.) and included these initial rules.
... if you have a goodly amount of equipment, please, please do not hit this stockpile up for stuff that you darn well do not need. And even if you do need, restrain yourself so that the new guys can, at some time in the future, get a crack at what we have. I do feel, tho, that some of the difficult "scratchbuilding" items are beyond the ability of new people, so if you see anything that fits that description feel free to ask.In conclusion in 1995 he thanked "all who donated to the OO cause," which is a thought I would certainly repeat as an initial note in the online version of the OO Inventory.
One general note: condition of the items pictured and described below is somewhat variable and many look a bit better than they actually are in the photos, but as much as possible the items are complete and ready to be worked on for layout use or display.
Please note that you can click on any photo for a larger view, and the "rules" for obtaining items from the inventory are in the sidebar at the right. And please also note, if anything interests you just ask. Very few requests come in and I would be happy to send more of these items out.
